WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Meet the new Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo. She's an attorney and no stranger to the area.
"I care deeply about Luzerne County, it's my home, the people I care about live here," said Crocamo.
She's also no stranger to the job.
Crocamo spent ten months as Luzerne County's acting county manager after David Pedri resigned about two years ago.
She applied for the job but later withdrew her name, and the county eventually hired Randy Robertson. He resigned in November after just five months on the job. Crocamo then decided to take another shot at the job.
"I believe there are challenges that we have to face, and I believe I am the right person to work with council to overcome these challenges," said Crocamo.
Crocamo has goals to address staffing issues across all county departments.
"When I start, I am going to go on a listening tour and listen to the division and department heads, review the challenges, and I will relay to them what my expectations are of what we need to do," said Crocamo.
She also tells Newswatch 16 another goal is to stabilize the elections, especially after the shortage of ballot papers on election day in November.
"I think the county manager needs to be involved in overseeing that elections get done smoothly, fairly, and transparently. I will be involved and will be getting reports," said Crocamo.
Crocamo officially starts her position as county manager in June.
